Webinar – Parenting Teenagers

We recognise that adolescence presents different demands for young people and their parents – our Parenting Teenagers webinar aims to explore identity development, the way a teenage brain functions and how the experience of loss and trauma will impact upon this.

Many families find communicating with teenagers a challenge at times and this webinar hopes to increase their knowledge base and awareness so that they can set the tone of openess with their teens.

The aim will be to equip people with an increased understanding of what may lie behind presenting behaviours. By providing strategies based on the work of Dan Hughes and the Nurtured Heart approach, we hope to enable them to therapeutically parent teenagers who are increasingly curious about their life and their place within their current family and birth family.

It is also hoped that families attending will have the opportunity of meeting with other families living through similar challenges and together puzzling it out and making sense of their teenager’s world.

Supporting families at this stage of their parenting enables them to stay present with their children, acknowledge their confusion and to respect their place in families.

This webinar is free of charge for Adoption Matters families and Foster Care Matters families. It is also free for Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) families who are currently receiving support from the Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support.
