Adoption Matters raises adoption awareness on the BBC

13 November 2025

Adoption Matters has recently collaborated with the BBC in a bid to raise adoption awareness

Adoption Matters is proud to have spoken with BBC Yorkshire to shine a light on adoption, amid concerns over the falling number of people coming forward to adopt.

In a recent article, which can be read here, the BBC spoke to Jacqui Shore, our Head of Service, and one of our wonderful families in Emma and Mike, based in North Yorkshire, to discuss the joys of adoption and the potential reason why the number of people coming forward to adopt may be dropping.

Following the release of this article, Jacqui, Emma and Mike also aired on BBC Look North and Look North in the North East and a clip of this can be watched by clicking here and skipping to minute 1:15.

Adoption Matters would like to thank the BBC for raising awareness of the need for more adopters.

We would also like to extend our thank you to our amazing adopters, Emma and Mike, and, of course, our brilliant Head of Service, Jacqui, for agreeing to be part of this news story.

Want to hear more from Emma and Mike? Visit our podcast page and listen to them chatting to their social worker, Cat Smallwood, on a recent You Can Adopt podcast.
